Spiritual Experiences with Mark Rothko

Spiritual Experiences with Mark Rothko
The National Gallery of Art in D.C. houses some of the world’s best pieces of art. The East
Building of the NGA is becoming one of my favorite stops. Within the walls is an impressive
display of Mark Rothko’s works, an extraordinary abstract...
Reasons to not eat shrooms at work...
by Justin Lawrence Trawick
Mushrooms are the worst food, if you can call them food, on the face of the planet, quite possibly
in the universe (although I must say that I was forced by a roomful of priests once to eat
tripe...words don't describe the mental pain and physical anguish i went through for days after
that...
The Da Vinci Code Guide To Dating
by Justin Lawrence Trawick
I've never really been very good at dating. In fact, I think I can safely say that I am pretty
oblivious to the whole practice. It always seems that the person that I really want to get to know
has no interest in me and the person who actually does want to get to know doesn't register on...
The Next Four Years
by Wendi Strickland
Well, the election has officially been called. Many people are already cracking jokes about
emigrating. I used to make similar jokes in years past, but I have to be honest – lately, that
attitude is starting to really piss me off. As do the first-time voters whose candidate of choice
doesn’t win,...
A Third World Eye Opened for a New World Kind of Girl
by Kelly LeTard
I am disgusted with myself. This is not uncommon after a good thrust of reality. I am here in
the beautiful third world country of Indonesia on vacation. Today, my concerns were:
1- Will I get to play tennis?
2- Will I get a nap?
3- Will I get a batik...
Living: Reflecting on Shawshank
by Jaime Alvis
So living in a new place and being by myself I have started to yearn for “noises” that are
familiar. You know, the sound of the turn signal in a car that your dad is driving late at night
home from Christmas at Granny and Grandaddy’s with you and your sister sleeping in the back seat.
The...
As our first person to submit his material, I thought it only fitting to honor Kirk
and his work by making him OddTherapys first featured artist. Ive known Kirk for
the past two years, meeting him in a graphic design class we were both taking at Longwood
University in Central Virginia. At that time he was a sophomore and had just decided
that he wanted to go the photography route. For the next two years I had several other
classes with him so I was able to see his evolution as a photographer, especially with his
great skill with lighting. There are several photos that I have specifically asked him to
submit to me as soon as he can get them scanned. These photos have a superior lighting
structure that I think are amazing and definitely worthy of your attention.
When Kirk graduates he plans on backpacking Europe for a year and then going to
graduate school either at Ohio University or the University of New Mexico for
photography where he hopes to be a freelance magazine photographer. Keep a lookout
for this amazing up-and-coming photographer!
